Hiking

Prašivá

Prašivá (1652 m) is a mountain located on the western side of Ďumbierske Tatras and it´s the westernmost peak on the main ridge of the Low Tatras.
The ridge trail through Prašivá is one of the most beautiful trails in Slovakia. When the weather is nice, you can see all the mountains of the central Slovakia from the top of Prašivá. The whole ridge trail through Prašivá is tightly linked to the Slovak National Uprising, the first partisan units were formed here. Residents of nearby villages carried weapons and ammunition to the partisans. At the end of October and beginning of November 1944, rebel troops retreated across the mountain Prašivá. Many of them lost their lives on this hill.
